Small Things to Check On Your Car

Nov 23rd, 2011 Jeremy Babcock

It can be easy to check on all of the different large aspects of your car, working to make sure that your car is running smoothly. You check the tires to make sure that they have the right pressure and check your oil levels to make sure that you have enough oil in your car. Many fail to understand that there are plenty of other things in their cars to check for, and plenty of reasons to do so.

These are not the only small things that you need to look into when checking your vehicle over. These small things are simply important things for you to look into to make sure that your car is running as smoothly and efficiently as it can.

Lube

People fail to think about lube when thinking about their vehicle. They fail to think about the fact that the lube helps to ease the friction caused on the moving parts of the vehicle. The extra friction creates extra heat and makes the parts work harder. They will not last as long as they would with lube, and they will make your vehicle less efficient.

More Tires

You may think about checking your tires for tire pressure, but you may fail to think about getting your tires rotated. A tire rotation helps your tires to last as long as possible, also helping to keep your gas mileage as high as possible.

Your Lights

We tend to forget to check our lights on a regular basis, only worried about them when someone tells us that one is out. Your lights may not be as bright as you want them to be, and may not be functioning properly. Most oil change locations will check your lights for you during your oil change.

Cables, Belts and Hoses

You want to make sure that all of the cables, belts and hoses are working properly and are installed properly. You simply need to work to make sure that everything is moving smoothly. Check all bearings, seals, belts, and hoses that you can see.

Your Battery

Your battery is an obviously important part of your vehicle. You need to work to make sure that our battery is not corroding, and that your battery cable ends are in proper working condition. If you are unsure as to what to look for, talk to a professional, they will be able to check your battery out for you and tell you if it is in a good working condition.

Many find it easy to forget about some of the smaller things on their vehicles, wrapped up in the importance of bigger objects and bigger chances. Some of these different "small things" can actually be just as important and crucial to the smooth operation of your vehicle. Be sure to make time for these various small things while looking to keep your car as healthy as possible.
